The LearningCITY Lab is here to help communities become learning hubs. We do this by identifying, researching, testing, and scaling innovations in learning and skills development.

We are the organization that learns about learning. We design and implement initiatives that are removed from the structures and cultures of the current learning communities.

Today, we deliver on our goals of system-level collaboration by coming together to empower innovative thinkers and doers from different learning communities to collaborate on preparing Canadians for our changing world.

The LearningCITY Fellowship Program is a 6-month collaborative learning and innovation journey designed to bring together leaders from Calgary’s diverse sectors to tackle complex, systemic workforce development challenges.

Fellows will engage in immersive, in-person workshops, collaborate on shared challenges, and co-create innovative solutions rooted in systems thinking and community-driven approaches. The Fellowship culminates in a joint proposal or grant application to bring a co-designed initiative to life.

Confronting Calgary’s talent challenge extends beyond the capacity of any single government level, educational institution, sector, or employer.

LearningCITY released the Calgary Skills Development Framework. This framework was the culmination of four years of research, engaging hundreds of community stakeholders. This framework is a living and dynamic vision owned by every talent seeker, developer, talent steward, and learner in our city. It is anchored to four drivers: adaptable, accessible, empowered, and open.

The LearningCITY Collective was established to be where learning communities collaborate. This starts with piloting and scaling learning innovations. These innovations start in the LearningCITY incubator.

Transformative change starts with evidence. The LearningCITY Collective is committed to leading collaborative studies of Calgary’s learning system to drive evidence-based innovation.
